Mangrove Cay Club Bonefishing Lodge - Andros Island, Bahamas

In August, Sweetwater and a group of partners reached an agreement with Shackleton International to purchase its interest in Mangrove Cay Club.  The completion of the sale is expected to be completed immediately following Bahamian Government approval.  We expect that the sale will close sometime during the last two weeks of October.

We have been searching for the perfect saltwater property for 20 years. With Mangrove, we have found a saltwater property that has met and, frankly, exceeded our expectations. The Mangrove Cay Club is perfectly designed in every regard, but most importantly the lodge is located with fishing, under almost any weather condition, in mind. During Jeff’s February visit, the average fish was 3-5 pounds with several up to 8 pounds and a few over 10 pounds landed in the week. The largest landed for the Mangrove Cay Club Bahamas Bonefish Sweetwater Travel Andros Island week was 14 pounds.

Our second visit in June was better for quantity of bonefish with a smaller average size than fall and winter. The biggest surprise though was that we had at least dozen shots at permit and a half dozen shots at tarpon in the 50-75 pound range. With boat access to the famed North, Middle, and South Bights as well as the eastern flats and the west side of Andros, Mangrove Cay Club has a well deserved reputation for being one of the most ideally located lodges.

Under the skilled on-site management of Liz and Alton Bain, Mangrove Cay Club has set the standard for excellence in service, accommodations and cuisine at Bahamas bonefishing lodges. Sweetwater Travel Company and its partners will continue the tradition of exceptional hospitality and enhance a fishing program that caters to anglers of all skill levels.

Although Andros is renowned for the abundance and size of its bonefish, Mangrove Cay also has an exceptional blue water fishery right out its back door. This combination of inshore and off shore fishing opportunities insures that your time at Mangrove will be filled with a variety of fishing experiences. At the end of each day, you will return to the lodge for world class accommodations and dining. It is a wonderful fishing escape.

Mangrove's guides are under the skilled direction of Leslie Green. Leslie is a seasoned bonefishing guide and has personally trained all of our guides. Most of our guides have been with Mangrove for years with our most junior guide heading into his 4th season. All of our guides will make your day on the flats both enjoyable and instructive.

Mangrove’s season is October through June. We are presently offering specials during the fall and early winter months. We offer packages that vary in length from three night/two days to seven nights/six days.

At Sweetwater, we have been searching for a saltwater destination for a very long time. We are thrilled to have found a new place to call home. Our collection of owners operate some of the finest, fly-fishing lodges in the world. Our collective skills will create an exceptional fishing, lodging, and culinary experience.

We hope you will come join us.
