Brazil Proposal
We are currently seeking help to protect the Agua Boa Watershed in the Northern state of Roraima in the Brazilian Amazon. The Agua Boa is a crystal clear river with a white sand bottom that presents a tremendous potential to protect an entire clear water watershed in the Northern Amazon. The Agua Boa is certainly the most spectacular river we have encountered in over 10 years of exploring the Amazon. Its gin clear meander waters meander through some the Amazon's most pristine rainforest. The entire watershed is healthy and intact from its headwaters in the Pakaraima mountains near the Venezuelan border to its junction with the Branco River. Probably the most unique aspect of the entire system is that there is not another inhabitant on the river. Our partner, Dr. Jan Wilt, currently owns and holds title to every piece of private land on the river. The rest of the land on the river is part of an I.B.A.M.A. rainforest preserve and federally protected buffer zone bordering the Yanamomi lands.
We would like to find a willing conservation organization to purchase the land/and or lodge from Dr. Jan to help put it into permanent protection. We have overseen the construction of his lodge. It is truly spectacular and the airstrip allows for easy access. The lodge would provide an excellent fundraising vehicle and would help finance any of the project needs. Our company would be happy to be involved with the lodge and or project, but would be happy to relinquish any control if it were to better serve the larger conservation project.
